Long Introduction

Hello Everyone,
This post is for my classmates and for bloggers on Blogger I read for the past year. I wanted to use this assignment for my Wordpress class I am not taking to give everyone a long introduction of myself that would be to long for a classroom setting and for people who have seen me comment on there blogs and wonder who is that person lol..

My name is Joe Kelly. I live alone (I am single hint hint =)) in my own house in Romeoville IL (a suburb about 30 miles from Chicago). I am going to Joilet Jr. College and finishing my degree in web design and than going to transfer to a four year school to finish a degree in Computer Science. Computers have always been fun hobby for me while I was in grade school. I built my first computer at age 10. Been programming since age 6. The web is the future of computing so, that is where my focus is.

I am involved with two clubs on campus. Phi Theta Kappa and the ASL Club. Both are fun and enjoyable to be a part of. Phi Theta Kappa is fun in many ways. I love the research projects we do. Any way I can learn to be a better leader is a plus. The ASL Club is fun because it teaches me Sign Language and I can interact with more hard of hearing and Deaf people like myself. I have moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears and wear hearing aids and sometimes use an FM system in class to help me hear the instructor better. If anyone sees me hand the professor a black thing that they were around there neck that it what that is. The only problem with the FM is that it's hard to hear the other students comments unless the professor repeats it.

Thanks Joe

  2. That was just QBASIC, Apple Basic and GWBASIC but, that was my starting point. Everyone needs to start from somewhere =)

  3. Nice blog! Very informative video. I've never seen the transmitters in use, but they seem like a good example of how technology can really enhance the classroom environment. :)

    1. It is really good technology. Without my aids and FM system I would be totally lost in all my classes. I just wish a set of hearing aids did not cost $6000.00. The FM system is on loan from the college so at least I don't have to pay for that. I may use it in this class once or twice. Most of my computer classes I don't use it very often or at all. English & Math I use it all the time. It all depends if missing or misunderstanding will affect my performance in class.

    1. I don't use it much in my CIS classes since if I miss something it's not the end of the world. Classes like English and Math I use it a lot. In my classes I can also use notetakers and other services to make sure I hear and understand as much as possible.

    1. QBasic was the first programming language I learned. There is a saying that John F. and Pam use once you learn how to program in one language the other will be a lot easier to learn.
